George J. Gonce, Sr.

On June 17, 2018, George J. Gonce Sr. passed away at age 91. A US Navy WW II Veteran, and devout Catholic, Mr. Gonce was a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, and 50 year member of St. Jane Frances Church. Mr. Gonce had a long list of accomplishments in his beloved profession of Funeral Service. He was the founder of Gonce Funeral Homes in Brooklyn and Riviera Beach, past president of the Maryland State Funeral Directors Association, past president of the National Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards, and served as Secretary of the Maryland State Board of Morticians for over a decade. He also traveled the world with his wife, Marguerite.
Mr. Gonce was the beloved husband of 73 years to Marguerite Gonce (nee Mortillaro); devoted father of George J. Gonce, Jr. and his wife, Chickey, Donna Znamirowski and her husband, Jerome, Richard Gonce and his wife, Elaine, Beverly Gonce, Gregory Gonce, Mark Gonce and his wife, Laurie; loving grandfather of Jerry and wife, Chanessa, Gina, Eric, Lance, Heather and wife Mandy, Adam and wife, Jessica, Emily, Brad, Sabrina, Kara and Ricky. He was also blessed with great granddaughters Violet, Lily and Ava.
Friends may visit GONCE FUNERAL SERVICE P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway on Wednesday and Thursday 3 to 7,pm. Further visiting will be held at GREGORY J. GONCE FUNERAL HOME, 169 Riviera Dr. Riviera Beach, on Friday 10,am to 11:15. On June `9, 2018,Edward J. Ciernak passed away.  The devoted father of John Cierniak; brother of Frank and Joseph Cierniak; beloved son of the late Frances and Joseph Cierniak.
