The Church continues the mission of Jesus, whose teaching has come down to us through the Apostles. The ministry to Catechesis serves the Church in that mission. In the National Catechetical Directory, Sharing the Light of Faith, the American Bishops call for four key ingredients to achieve the desired “ends” of Religious Education. Those ingredients are: message, community, worship, and service. The Religious Education program here strives to support parents in their role as primary educators, incorporating these key ingredients into our program. Together, parents, students, catechists, and staff, as a true parish community, strive to understand the message, work and pray together in community, worship our God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and call each other to serve according to our individual gifts and talents.
Religious Education for First Grade through Eighth Grade are held on Thursday Evenings
(6:15 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.) from October through April. Parents are strongly encouraged to be a part of our program by assisting in class.
Tuition
$45 for one child
$55 for two children
$60 for three or more children
Tuition payments may be mailed to the attention of Mrs. Mary Beth Barnes, St. Athanasius Church, 4708 Prudence Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21226. We remind you that your presence at Liturgy speaks louder than words in teaching your children respect for the Commandments, faithfulness to the Church and its traditions, and most certainly love and respect of our God. Remind your children that Church is a special place for us to gather as God’s family. Help your children to become familiar with the sign of the cross, the kiss of peace, etc. Take a place up front so your children can see. Have them use the bathroom before coming to church to possibly avoid disturbing others. Most of all, help them to pray and sing and celebrate during Mass.
